Developed in partnership with Pan American Airways for long-haul pilots navigating multiple time zones, the Rolex GMT-Master entered production in 1954 with a distinctive 24-hour bi-color bezel that allowed simultaneous reading of two time zones. The GMT-Master II, introduced in 1982, refined the complication with an independently-adjustable local hour hand — allowing the wearer to track three time zones at once.
