On July 20, 1969, the Omega Speedmaster became the first watch worn on the Moon — a distinction earned not through marketing but through rigorous NASA qualification testing that the Speedmaster was the only watch to survive. The Moonwatch has been worn on every crewed NASA mission since 1965 and remains in continuous production in a form virtually identical to the watch that went to the Moon.
